Sunday Morning Adult Class

Pursuing Unity, Being the Body of Christ —

a 1 Corinthians Journey
Begins August 24,  9:30am, Fellowship Hall

This year, you're invited to walk with others through the book of 1 Corinthians, one of the most honest, insightful, and challenging letters in the New Testament. Each week, we’ll place ourselves at the feet of Jesus, our Master Teacher, listening for the Voice of God through the words of Scripture.

1 Corinthians touches on many themes we're curious about today: unity that’s not uniformity, identity, relationships and friendships, purpose, integrity, worship, justice, love, and hope. We’ll wrestle with meaning and application, not for the sake of information alone, but for transformation—so that we can grow in Christ, together.

The First Few Weeks of Our New 1 Corinthians Class: Pursuing Christ-Centered Wisdom & Community

As we begin, we’ll explore what it means to grow as a people who are anchored in Christ, even amid our differences. Our conversations will reflect on questions like:

  • What kind of community is God building among us?
  • What does real wisdom look like?
  • How do we grow in unity and love, even when we don't always agree?

This is class about building something beautiful together, led by Christ at the center of our shared life.

Calvary Sunday School

We are excited for the start of some new and familiar rhythms this Fall. There's a neat group of adults leaders ready to explore faith and life with Jesus together with our children and youth. If anything looks new or you have questions you'd like to explore further, please reach out to me (Nathan), and I'd love to explain more of the hopes and reasoning behind what we're doing, in person or via email: nathan@calvarylincoln.org

The book of Galatians was written to churches in the region of Galatia where Paul had traveled on one of his missionary journeys (Acts 13-14). He wrote from a place of deep passion, telling people about Jesus—how He died, and rose again, to bring redemption. Key themes include:

-Unity of God’s people

-Jesus as fulfillment of the law

-New life through the power of the Spirit

Potluck - September 7

Join the fun of a Calvary Potluck on September 7. Located in the Fellowship Hall after 10:30 worship (approx. 11:45). Bring a dish to share along with serving utensils. Due to the possibility of continued kitchen construction our prep space may be limited, but we are making plans to enjoy a meal together even if construction continues. See you there!
